My Life on a Platter!

I have been a vegan for about a year and ½ to strengthen and cure my body from an autoimmune disorder called myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness).

My current regimen: veggies, fruits, beans, quinoa, homemade cashew chesses and breads, juicing, detoxing, multiple cleanses; tons of water, herbs, no dairy, no processed drinks, very little processed foods, and other various vegan options.

My Results: Headaches, weakness, ganglia cyst, weight gain, acne, dry skin, dry hair and when I’m not detoxing my health is off. Not really happy with my health.

So what’s wrong? I’m supposedly doing everything right, right?

While at times I would feel great, lately I’ve been feeling terrible and it’s pretty difficult to prove to people that being a “vegan” is the best way when it appears as if it’s not working for me. Now I’m not suggesting to ditch all healthy foods and go crazy eating anything, what I am saying is it’s time to incorporate one item at a time into a healthy diet to see what works for me. At the end of the day, it’s not about being a “vegan”, “vegetarian”, or some other diet label that is being marketed to us on a daily basis, for me it’s about being pain free, happy and healthy in all areas of life…which may even include eating items that I was once opposed to.

So, let’s just ditch the titles, because they put us in a narrow box. It’s about just being healthy, in whatever manner that means to you, individually.

With this new thinking, I took matters into my own hands. I decided to enroll in a holistic health coaching program, which has opened my mind to a new way of seeing health and nutrition. What’s right for someone else, may not be right for me…
